Ever since the death of Paul Newman the world hasn't been the same. I watched Cool Hand Luke a couple weeks ago and my favorite part is the egg eating contest. What I liked was Luke's approach. As George Kennedy hops up and down for his 'boy' and he comes and asks why he had to say fifty, Newman just smiles and mutters it's just something to do. 
This challenge comes under that heading. Lest anyone think I'm out to just get Wayne Root.

I'm proposing that Wes Benedict and I arm wrestle for each state's fund raising. He's always bragging about Texas and the LP down there and I'd like to prove that libertarians IN nEW yORK CAN BE JUST AS TOUGH. I know they have full ballot access down there and can run full slates of candidates almost at will. I'm jealous, angry and want 50,000 votes for Christmas some day.
If it's not too illegal we can let members bet on the outcome. Winner takes home the kiddy ? I propose we schedule it for the LSLA in Charleston. Queen's rules or whatever works. This will either morph or die here, so no rush for rules, terms, etc. I always bolt for these types of meetings, so I'll promise to stick around for beers this time.
I've met Wes on several occasions and certainly have appreciated his style and temperament. But I think I can take him . . . I'm hoping that this event/scam will attract enough attention away from the horrible infighting about to erupt for the next four months, years . . shrug. Who knows . . .

I'm resigning on December 31st to move onto other things (what, I don't know) and therefore do not expect to attend the LSLA conference. I appreciate the spirit of your challenge and thank you for keeping me in mind and regret that I will not be there to make Texas proud and crush a New York Libertarian.
