Take my Senator, please !

During Meet the Press this last Sunday I asked my five year old if he knew who Hillary Clinton was. He did not. He thinks Ron Paul is President. When I indicated that she was his Senator and running for President, he said, "A girl is running for President ?". While a lot of play has gone on about the shifting vote in New Hampshire and the potential Muskie moment, this particular moment made that one seem real. The rest of the process and parade seems unreal. hill_home.jpg

My absentee Senator is doing the job the people of NY elected her for, that is, running for President. After all, this is the same group that re-elected the Alan Hevesi. I remember the silliness of her first upstate 'listening tour' and now I do not wonder what motivates her in the morning. It may very well be when I wake up next year at this time the country will have my Senator. Good luck with that.

While David Brooks states (look for the January 13th transcript) that 'people are idiots' and that even the 'licensed professionals' were wrong about New Hampshire, he may be correct in saying ' you can't fake who you are '. The question is, what if you are already a 'fake'. Preparing friends, families and colleagues for the first woman as American President isn't really that hard. I would take issue that the highest 'ceiling' for the office is not gender, rather its a third party. If only I could convince my Senator that being tough is standing up for peace.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the Clinton's return to the White House (aside from the imminent return of Madeline Albright & Richard Holbrooke) is her take on the 'surge'. Apparently she believes that the Iraqi government is somehow responsible for the progress or lack of it. So not only do we topple the evil dictator, but the parasites who slithered in afterwards aren't even good puppets. Of course repeating history or expecting a comfy American backed regime to cowtow to politically inspired demands is all the fad now. With any luck, all the sniping and nitpicking is over in three weeks. For us political junkies, the days will be brighter and more fulfilled knowing that we just have to hang on all year, waiting for that November day. Turn off CSPAN, MSNBC & CNN knowing that its only the choice between getting hit on one side of the head or the other. Of course the really sadistic will hang on through all the third party wrangling.

Hey....the dailyKOS has a nice little Ron Paul article this morning: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/1/17/151257/047/916/438430

good luck!!

Well it looks like Huckabee is not going to reveal his homosexual liasons.

Figures...his Christianity would not allow him to be honest.

JJN - Your comments are resembling the yellow snow you left in the flower bed the other night.

Somehow the thought of Hillary at the helm of the executive branch with all it's expanded powers (thanks to that idiot Bush), and her insatiable desire to have power over all our lives makes me think warmly of the word "secession".

When voting for Ron Paul, just lie back & think of England...

John - your comments have nothing to do with the entry . . . do you just discover blogging and now use my last post as the testing place ? Wondering if it was wise to bring you to see old Kos . . . that post coming soon btw.

As far as I know, Ray maybe my only real reader.

Eric,

Nowhere, does Clinton acknowledge that the very corporations she criticizes are funding her campaign. A short list includes; 18.36 million (representing the largest contributions) from the financial sector, 14.3 million from lawyers and lobbyists representing oil, insurance, pharmaceutical, and lending companies, over 8 hundred thousand from the energy industry, and close to 2.2 million from the military industrial complex and construction companies combined, many of whom are currently operating in Iraq.
