Pure Party Politics

Michigan & Florida don't count for the Dems this time. Delegates are the game now. Good old fashion politics. If the media casts an eye on Senator Clinton's victory in Michigan as something gained or worthwhile they are surely the deluded fools that the American people are coming to accept them as. It's my sincere hope that the virtual three way split between the two major parties will slake the thirst of those third party members and activists opposed to the occupation of Iraq, the loss of civil liberties and the general malaise that will ensue as the government drives the economy into a ditch of panic. circus_small.jpg

As the pundits and spinmeisters coo about their respective victories, not much separates them. Only eight thousand votes seperated Barack & Hillary in NH. Duncan Hunter has more delegates (1) than Amerika's mayor. The delegate count in both regards are about equal between the Dems and Huckabee's still ahead for the GOP. Make no mistake, Mitt is solid and so is Ron Paul, at ten percent. Without a coronation, the media will be tasked to do a job that it presumably should do. That is, present the reality of the race, rather than the hype, spin and delusion of the campaigns.

Fortunately, NBC has adult journalists like Tom Brokaw who can fill the gap of poor coverage when the harpy laugh of Chris Matthews pervades the nightly take. Saying that voters have short attention spans is also reflective of the general attitude. The polls hit these guys hard. It's almost like they have no other gauge or sense of the electorate. David Moore's "The Super Pollsters" provides some tea leaves for the changing parameters of polling. It's been around since 1995. Find a reporter who has read it.

Make no mistake, John Edwards and Mitt Romney are in it for the distance. If Paul's money keeps him going, he'll continue to drain ten percent from the races. Perhaps it won't get delegates, but it will continue to split the third of the party not happy with the top two in any given state. If it boils down to shenanigans and back room deals at convention the American people might be treated to the reality of politics and the frustration of democracy. Voices, tears and invisible people infest one Senator from NY's lexicon. The Huckster is still out there working it. Fred might give them a surprise yet. Poor Rudy, hard to think anything but 'toast' at this point. Seems like the meme is getting out, Jonathon Capehart of the Washington Post is already talking about the 'process' on MSMBC. Follow the delegates.

Americans ought to look inwards and ask why they think anybody from these parties can evoke 'change'. Three lawyers on one side, a preacher, starched suit and ex-pilot the other. Looking forward to the raucous bone bruising process that takes up just one CSPAN weekend on Memorial Day . . . . go LP.
