Al Gore sent this one and its only date reference is Tuesday Morning. The three page missive is so boring that I could only get to the second page and I'm seriously challenged how to lampoon it. It's probably been two weeks since I got it.
You don't curl up on a beach towel at the end of summer and read an Al Gore book. I'm sure some co-ed did on Martha's Vineyard working as an aid to Ted Kennedy, but not this blog hack and weekend carpenter. The basics are that the Administration lied, failed policies, Democrats gotta win next time yadda yadda yadda.
The fun part is the little bookmark like insert with a title ' The Republican Assault on Truth : Five Republican Myths that are destroying America . . . .
Myth #1: Democrats oppose the military and support policies that undermine our troops.
Rather than go on about the billions you've authorized for 'defense' or veterans benefits, why not talk about how timid the new Democratic majority is ? Stop War, Start Peace. There would be less global warming with that step alone.
Myth # 2: Saddam Hussein was behind the 9/11 attacks and had weapons of mass destruction. And, removing Hussein from power has made America safer.
I'm with ya Al. A little dictatorship here and there makes for a stable world. Markets like that.
Myth # 3: Global warming if it's occurring at all, is a naturally occurring phenomenon that requires further study before we can take any action.
Wow. He's really got the microphone on this one. I know, I know. Let's concede it's absolutely true (for the sake of my afternoon). What action by whom and what for exactly ? My trucker buddy built a veggie car from a Mercedes Diesel. All volunteer until the Chinese agree too . . .
Myth # 4: Bush tax cuts are fair and balanced and benefit America's middle class.
All taxation is theft ? Hmmmm . . . Read my lips "Lame Duck".
Myth #5: Raising the minimum wage will cost jobs and hurt small business.
Why not make it $50 an hour ? You can't win this one Al once you've crossed the Austrian border.
I'd just like to thank all the politicians who have sent me literature this summer. Without you, I was a lost blogger . . .
