Another installment from Rudy, Mitt's got my name now and LP Presidential hopeful Daniel Imperato is spending some big bucks on a new flyer via snail mail. Smurfs_Cereal_Smurf_For_President_Campaign_Buttons.jpg

For Rudy it's all about the Democrats stopping at nothing to get back the White House. Mitt's got a big family and can't wait to showcase them. Imperato's got a lot of splain' to do if he wants my 'libertarian' support.

My family has served me in another way as well

I kinda get a funny feeling no matter what comes after that revelation. Aside from the pithy reflection that his wife Ann served as the Chief of Family Operations (CFO . . yuck yuck) you gotta wonder what this statement implies. Are the kids and grandkids just a family values credential that conservatives are supposed to fawn all over ? I can tell you this, my large West Coast Christian family ain't buying the Mormon thing at all. Whatever horrible built in prejudice that entails, takes nothing away from the Mitt reality show. He never mentions Universal Forced Healthcare (UFH) in his neat listings of accomplishments. He does fire a salvo about marriage being between a man and a woman. That ought to keep those Orange County sentiments in his camp if he's the eventual nominee.

Team Fruity is holding back a little on his second mailer to grace my PO Box. A double sided letter and a foldout for donations to placed in a small envelope for return. It's always fun to send back a blank form and make them pay.

Even though I'm a big L libertarian, I got an immense chuckle outta Rudy when he attacked Dr. Paul in the second GOP debate. His visceral challenge may have spurned on a couple blood thirsty conservatives in the crowd and earned him Sean Hannity's undying support, but the 'blowback' from that comment is starting a mini-revolution in Dr. Paul's camp.

Rudy wants to stay offensive, on terrorism that is.

- we can choose to defeat terrorism or retreat and leave this responsibility to future generations. Frankly, I don't think we have a choice.

Really ? What about just leaving foreign countries and promoting trade and enterprise ? We've already saddled my children with almost a trillion dollars of debt and unfunded liabilities in the very near future. I have no doubt that 'ol Rudy would just propagate the fraud of the welfare/warfare state. Otherwise it's the typical shill for money to fight the terrorists and Democrats and another iteration of his 'record' in NYC. Come on Rudy, nobody liked you until 9/11, get a clue.

At recent state convention a delegate made a quip about Libertarians responding positively to the message of Daniel Imperato and his commitment to learning that message for Libertarians. While it's harder for me to make snarky comments about people seeking the nomination in my own dear party, it seems fair to comment on what I think is his message and how it relates to Libertarian ideas. Perhaps this might bridge a needed gap or just impale myself a bit as a National Committee member.

We must save our Social Security system or shut it down
.

Unfortunately, Imperato doesn't do much for the latter part of that statement, which I think is more popular amongst libertarians. Instead he launches into a scheme which creates a public private charity ? Somehow wealthy Americans have earned their money on the backs of the people and should now be compelled not to donate to charities of their choice (because they don't help anybody) and a new Social Security Charitable Fund will be the only one that can accept unlimited contributions. Not sure even libertarians will buy this, let alone a Blue or Red Congress.

I propose an approval fee on all FDA approved drugs to be contributed by the drug companies to the US healthcare system.

Some might feel that the unnecessary wait is fee enough for potentially live saving drugs. Basically this is an additional tax for the purpose of socialized medicine. Or as the flyer puts it, " helathcare for all American citizens run by we the people. "

I can't complain too much about some nebulous education portal for the underprivileged in the University system as long as it doesn't cost the taxpayers another dime. I think MIT courseware was on the way to this though . . .

Imperato's best plea to Libertarians might be the prospect of 50 state ballot access. A combination of money and LP activism and party support may place a candidate where even Micheal Bloomberg's millions can only hope to go. Somehow I think that National might have an insurrection on their hands if surly affiliates decide to go off the reservation and nominate candidates to their own liking . . . Should be more fun to watch than Hillary and Bill trying to do the Sopranos thing.

I think that Imperato with his money and obvious controversial personality would be good for national press and ballot access. It would push the Libertarian Party into the spotlight.

Thanks Jay.

I just wonder how he'll do amongst actual delegates. I'm not sure he has the 'right stuff' in that regard.

I read on a few blogs that Daniel Imperato is looking to be the candidate for the Christian Coalition, because of the Rudy Giuliani fallout.
